Malawi Map |
|
Malawi MapWedged between Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique, Malawi (118,484 sq km) measures roughly 900km long and between 80km and 150km wide. Almost a fifth of Malawi's total area is covered by the lake. Along the western lakeshore, it is sometimes so narrow there's only room for a footpath between the lake and the steep wall of the valley. Escarpments rise to high rolling plateaus covering much of the country from Lake Malawi. Nyika and Viphya are the countries main highland areas in the north with Mt Mulanje in the south. Malawi's main river, the Shire flows from the southern end of Lake Malawi, through Lake Malombe and then southward to low ground and then flowing into the Zambezi River in Mozambique. |
