Botswana Map

Landlocked Botswana (582,000 sq km) which is about the same size as Kenya or France. Most of the country lies at an elevation of more or less 1000m and with a vast and nearly level sand-filled basin characterised by savanna. The Kalahari is a semi-arid desert with wind blown sand deposits and long, sandy valleys covering nearly 85% of the country, including the entire central and southwestern regions.

The Okavango River which is in the northwest of Botswana, flows in from Namibia and disappears into the sand which forms the Okavango Delta, covering an area of about 15, 00 sq km. The northeast area boasts the great salty clay deserts of the Makgadikgadi Pans.
